University of Copenhagen Danish Government Scholarships 2027

University of Copenhagen

Overview

About this opportunity

The University of Copenhagen Danish Government Scholarships 2027 offer a limited number of tuition waivers and grants to highly talented masters students from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland, funded through the Danish Government Scholarship programme. The award is granted either as a full or partial tuition fee waiver, or as an amount that covers basic living expenses, with the exact package varying by faculty. There is no separate scholarship application: every eligible non EU and EEA applicant admitted to a masters programme is automatically considered, and selection is based solely on academic achievement, with financial need not taken into consideration. Applicants apply for admission to a September 2027 masters programme by 15 January 2027 and are contacted through the application portal if nominated.

Who should apply?

This may be a fit if the following points describe you. Always use the official criteria as the final check.

  • Be a citizen of a country outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland
  • Be admitted to a masters degree programme at the University of Copenhagen for the September intake
  • Be granted a time limited residence permit for the purpose of studying a higher educational programme in Denmark
  • Show outstanding academic achievement, since the university awards the scholarships solely on academic merit and does not consider financial need
  • Note the exclusions: you are not eligible if you have a legal claim to the rights of Danish citizens, if you are eligible for a grant under Danish law on the State Educational Grant and Loan Scheme (SU), or if you hold one of the residence permit categories listed on the official page
  • Note the faculty specific conditions: the Faculty of Humanities considers a letter of motivation, the Faculty of Social Sciences has a very limited number of awards, generally fewer than five per year, and the Faculty of Theology has generally fewer than four per year, granted as partial tuition waivers only

  • No separate scholarship form: automatic consideration for every eligible admitted non EU and EEA applicant
  • Selection on academic merit alone, with no financial need assessment
  • Access to masters programmes across faculties including Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, Health and Medical Sciences, and Theology
